Die Ausstellung “Paideuma” umfasst 6 kleinformatige Bilder von Gebäudegruppen und anderen Artefakten menschlicher Zivilisation in felsiger Landschaft. Die Motive gehen auf eine Ausstellung des Künstlers zurück, die vor 15 Jahren in Köln stattfand, und großformatige Zeichnungen zeigte, die sich an klassischer chinesischer Landschaftsmalerei orientierten. Der Titel der Ausstellung bezieht sich auf ein Buch des Ethnologen Leo Frobenius (1873–1938), “Paideuma, Umrisse einer Kultur- und Seelenlehre”, in dem er seinen eigenen Werdegang schildert und eine Zusammenfassung seines Kulturbegriffs und seiner Zivilisationstheorie gibt.

The exhibition “Paideuma” comprises six small paintings depicting buildings and other artefacts of human civilization in rocky landscapes. The motives can be traced back to another exhibition by the artist, which took place 15 years ago in Cologne and showed large drawings reverently quoting highlights of classic Chinese landscape painting. The present exhibition’s title is taken from a book by the ethnologist Leo Frobenius (1873–1938), who in “Paideuma, a Philosophy of Culture”, describes his own scientific development and tries to give a short introduction to his understanding of culture and civilization.
